Lost people in this world are only able to gain mastery over one field during their lifetime, be it a language as rich as Spanish or a complicated subject like economics and programming. Only a few become experts in more than one area, but to find a man who has a firm grasp of a diverse array of subjects is a tough ask.

Meet Porfirio Sanchez Galindo, an applied mathematics graduate from the Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM) in 1998 who shortly after became the Mexican finance minister’s chief of staff in 2000. He diligently discharged his duties as the advisor to the minister on financial matters affecting the entire country as well as the manager of the staff who worked in the finance ministry for six years. Amazingly, he managed to perform these demanding tasks without prior experience. When he stepped down in 2006, he was immediately taken on board by Televisa, a media giant in the Spanish-speaking world and a cable operator of great importance in Mexico, as their chief economist. His role was later expanded to include the duties of corporate vice president and head of the staff. Later on in his career, he sought further education to expand his repertoire of skills in the form of short courses at the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2011 and Carnegie Mellon University’s Institute of Software Research in 2012. Apart from all this, he has been at the forefront of a large number of Spanish language publications as a prolific writer and editor, such as National Geographic en Espanol, National Geographic Traveller, and Esq. Latin America. To top it all off, he also serves as a member of the Doctors Without Borders group.

A man of his many skills is a prized gem. Porfirio Sanchez Galindo has been a true asset to the Mexican communities as well as the Latin American countries at large. Having helped many different corporations during his career in Televisa, he is part of the most influential media company in all Spanish-speaking countries in the world. Being both a financial expert and an administration student, he has helped the group in many different ways, and its success definitely has a share of the work of Porfirio Sanchez Galindo.
